Sun roof wont close

I hav ebeen having trooble with the sun roof on my 85 300SD. At first it wouldn't open at all then it opened a little. I checked the fuse and it was corroded. So i thought i fixed the problem. After getting all the corrosion off the fuse it opened all the way. Now it wont close. I tested the switch and I know that it works both ways. How do I get the sunroof closed? I tried using the manual option in the trunk but I cant figure out how to use it. Thanks, stephen

You just put a socket on that red nut and turn it to open/close the sunroof, provided that your cable isn't stripped there at the motor, then the motor will just spin its gear.

You could always remove the cover on the bottom of the sunroof and just close it manually. Make sure you slide that bar forward to lock it closed. Don't ask how I know.

Did you try cleaning and lubing the rails?

I was just going to ask what type of lube should I use? I know there is alot of debate as to what should be used. Lithium grease?

I bought some MB sunroof lube from a member here. He put a little in a plastic bag and sent it to me in an envelope. I cleaned the rails with some brake clean on a rag and then lubed. I had a hesitation at about 3 inches from close. Now it closes with no hesitation.
