Are 240D and 300D fuel sending units the same?

I am having fuel sending unit isues. I can get the unit out of a 240D in the yard. There is a 300CD in there as well. That may be a better candidate. Are they all the same with recalibrated guages or different resistance or length units? Thanks, paul

Are you talking about the fuel gauge sending unit?

I would say they are all the same, same tank, all diesel and same gauge. However, if you can choose between a 240D and a 300D, and you want to put it in a 300D, I would get it out of the 300D. But I think they are all the same if diesel.

I would think they would work, but you may want to check part #'s at the above button "Buy Parts".

It depend on what size tank each car has. I think the 240D has a 17gallon, and I think the 300's have a 21 gallon tank. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes & no. Many 240's had a smaller tank than the 300D's. so the tank unit was different.

Back in 1982 when the 240D's had a plastic tank even the replacement sending unit was different.

I figured it probably would be different. I will try to get to the tank in the 300CD when I go and pull the one out of it. Paul
