#%$^&* that Diesel Tax.....

I haven't driven my W 123 300D for several months--my wife uses it because Diesel is so expensive 'cause of the whopping tax they put on it for Diesel truckers.

The other day I drove it. Mine has a fully restored suspension and brakes, and new front end and an engine and tranny from a 120K car. I literally forgot what a great Drive that car is.

It feels Solid and handles gracefully and has good acceleration and shifts smoothly. Its also very comfortable.

Why do they have to institute a stinking Tax for Diesel? Couldnt they relax it at gas stations for passenger cars? Could you imagine--Diesel at $ 3.69 instead of $4.69? Thats what it should be. What an inane goofy tax.

I got my Exxon bill yesterday, almost $500.00! I nearly had a heart attack even though I was expecting it. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to drive as a part of my job.

I saw Diesel at the Union 76 listed for $4.99 a gal.

there is quite a bit of tax on Diesel fuel. correct me if Iam wrong here, but I seem to have read that back in the Clinton administration. Mr. Al Gore, the inventor of the internet, and probably the inventor of Global Warming.
They started taxing the different fuels on the energy content of ea one. Diesel has something like 12 - 15% more energy than Gasoline (BTU).

I don`t know how much the tax is, but look at off road Diesel compared to Hwy Diesel in price. even off road still has taxes in the price.

Are you saying the total diesel tax in your state is $1 per gallon? I have a hard time believing that. The federal diesel tax is only 24 cents / gallon.

I read somewhere, wikipedia, I think, that the average state and federal tax for the first quarter of 2008 was 50 cents per gallon for diesel and around 42 for gas. Hey, even an 8 cent drop would at least make things fair!
