Question about W123 seat belts

I know there were at least two design changes to the seat belt systems in the W123 in the male and female ends, but I'm talking about a change found in the lowermost bolt that mounts to the side member. After accidently slamming my driver's plastic latch in the door about two years ago, I replaced that one with a new unit. After I got smart and found out the location of the nearest Pick-A-Part, I found a used belt off of another 1982 300D on the passenger's side after it suffered the same mishap a few months ago during the Round Top GTG. The bolt on the driver's side screwed in far enough for the bracket to be flush with the carpeting covering the side member. The passenger's side seems to be a different design. A bushing, presumably allowing for pivoting of the bracket will not allow for the bracket to sit flush with the carpeting as it does on the driver's side. I'll post pics later, anyone else noticed this?

I've seen that. I had trouble using early seat springs in my old '85 because of the diffrences in the seat belt latches.

Here's pics to compare and contrast.

Hmm, that is not what I was talking about. The black latch mechanism that bolts to the seat is what I was referring to.

So the driver side is flush, and the passenger side is elevated slightly (due to the bushing)?

In 85 the cars got pretensioners, that's probably why your car is different.

The driver's seat belt latch in my 300TD seems to be worn out and is very hard to fasten. Do you know if it's possible to replace parts in the latch without having to take the whole assembly out? My daughter will soon be driving it and I'd like to get this resolved before she does.
