I have to admit, I considered the idea of "suck & run" myself - for about a millisecond. Just couldn't lower myself to it though.

So, I'm offering to buy my veg oil for brewing bio. I've been handing out flyers offering up to $0.50 a gallon for it. So far, no takers yet, so I may have to "sweeten" my offer a bit...

If there is something negative about vegitable oil or biodiesel we can count on you to be there. Its like you live for it.

For the record, not everyone is stealing, nor paying for WVO, and people have been running it successfully for many miles, and brewing biodiesel without blowing up or killing themselves from caustic fumes, and not everyone is doing it to save the earth, yet some are in there little own way.

If its stealing you are concerned with, maybe you should focus your energy on the current administration.

Every test report I have ever read indicates that burning either Biodiesel or WVO is cleaner than diesel.

It's only real value is for animal feed anyway, I doubt any commercial BD producer could get acceptable QC on every batch using WVO feed-stock (who knows what's in that stuff), just too much liability to sell it to anyone else. It's more likely that the commercial bio-fuels producers will continue to drive up the cost of virgin oil, corn, soy, etc. and, therefore, the cost of animal feed. It's really just more farm welfare, like ethanol.

In any event, as soon as WVO becomes too valuable to throw away, most of the lunatic fringe will just move on to something else.

I have seen NOx go both ways, better and worse, than diesel.

You're dead wrong there. Commercial producers LOVE WVO. It's WAY cheaper to collect and filter than to buy virgin stock. There's a reason "yellow grease" (ie WVO) goes for over $2/gallon on various commodities exchanges.

And the whole "Food or fuel?" debate is pure bunk. Yawn. Call me up when all usable U.S. farmland is actually being USED > (HINT: that will happen when the government stops PAYING people NOT to use it...)

OK, but it just doesn't seem cost effective to test every batch of BD to ASTM standards if you are using an unknown feed-stock. Are these commercial users producing a product that is certified to meet ASTM D6751? If so, the whole "free WVO" thing will be over the minute commercial BD becomes cost effective compared to petro-diesel.

Personally, I don't care either way; fuel is still much too cheap to play around with either WVO or commercial BD. If/when the price doubles, I'll start thinking about commercial BD, maybe.
