What about a horse an buggy? Anyone thought about that? No more oil changes, no more tires, fuel filters, etc... The list goes on. And I betcha a good fast horse could match the performance of a stock 240d.

yeah, I'll be keeping my Diesel! It just sucks paying that much for Diesel... Be nice to see it go back down. I was watching the news, and they were showing a reporter in Iran when President Bush was there to talk about gas pricing... and there was a reporter at a gas station there and said: "There certainly isn't a gas shortage here" and there was, I would say an S-class behind her filling up and again she said "To fill up a car about this size, it would run you around 8.00$. Because over there in Iran it's like 50 cents a gallon. -siiiiiiiiiigh-

I currently own a 94 100. This is the same as the first A6 (C4 platform). The C5 A6 is to the C4 as the W124 is to the W123. The C5 A6's are nice cars. I have always liked the 2.7T with the sport option and they get decent mileage for a 6 cylinder.

One thing I am not following is that I have read that they refineries are operating at 120% capacity. How is that large capacities laying dormant?

I don't think it is what they think of us. I think it is the fact that we are spending more than we can bring in

Unlike most of you, I bought both of my MB's new, I didn't buy either one for it's economy - I bought them because my wife loved the SD (we traded in her '78 300D) and I bought the '84 CD as my second CD (my first was a '79 CD) wanting nothing more from it over the '79 other than the power of the turbo. We got both of them in diesels, not because of the price of diesel, but because we loved the cars and knew that if we wanted we could drive them forever. After 26 and 24 years and a combined 460K miles on the two cars, nothing has changed. If you like your MB, because of what it is - not because of the price of diesel - don't whore yourself out with some ricer or alternative fuel POS.

The price of Diesel Fuel out here in Long Beach CA has gone down to $4.39/gal within the last 3 weeks (I bought some from that place yesterday).
How long it will stay at that price???????
