Talking

Well guys the job is done and if I was to do it all over again I would most likely ask for some assistance. Its a F%$##@#!!**& job and a half!!!I wasn't able to take any pictures because I was too busy drinking some good old Shell Rotella while underneath the car trying to remove the damn cooler lines.
But its all done now and its all good.
Both cooler lines where replaced, both engine shocks and both engine mounts also. All and all it took me about 3 and a half hours to do it all.Next you attempt this job time ask a friend to help out its well worth the case of beer.Take my word for it.
Till next time.

Certainly one of the more taxing jobs on these cars. As the saying goes, 'Welcome to the club!'

Oil cooler hoses are real low on the fun scale

I did mine 2 weekends ago and it took me over twice as many hours, spread over 2 days. I had to cut both hoses and Dremel-cut the fittings off the oil cooler to save it from the scrapbin.

It was also the most rolls of paper towels I've ever used on a car repair. I think I went through 8 rolls!

Just did mine as well. I had the compressor off as I'm fixing the A/C so putting them on was simple, but taking them off....ay.

Also getting the bottom bolts of the motor mount on....wow. I couldn't even tell you how many hours I spent on all of this as I'm doing a bunch of stuff at once.

I'm just glad I won't have to do it again...at least anytime soon!

Congratulations on getting to this side of that repair. I don't think I've heard a positive story from anyone who's done this job.

I had the typical experience myself, with stripped motor mount bolts, frozen fittings on the oil cooler lines, and lots of time I hadn't planned on.

It was a great feeling to be done with it.

My experience was very positive actually. Bought the correct size wrench, chopped it in half. Removed the motor mount and motor shock without drama. Just cut the old lines in half to make the removal easier and the new ones dropped right in. I actually did the oil filter housing gasket while I was in there, also without problem. I always do a lot of research before jumping into a project and with a bit of luck (no stripped bolts, etc) the end result is usually as expected.

Also a positive experience doing the oil cooler lines. Not trying to rub it in, don't get me wrong, just saying it isn't always a nightmare. I soaked the oil cooler connections with Kroil for many days before the job and lifted the drivers side of the car as far off the ground as safely possible. I also cleaned the underside of the car with engine degreaser before I started.

I'm very glad to hear there are some people that have had no problems ... it gives me hope for my future w123 and w126 purchases.

Also, AeroKroil has been a help to me for numerous jobs I've tackled.
