idle isues 300D???

Hey everyone hows it going, I've been reading through the threads and trying different things to solve this problem but haven't had any success yet, here it is, 85' 300D 160 miles, no problem starting its 15C(60F)here but then as soon as the secondary glowplug cycle ends (15-30 seconds) it starts to idle really rough and blow a lot of blue smoke, this only happens when the engine is started cold and goes away after ten minutes or so when the engine gets warm, and it seems to idle much better after that. This is what I have done so far: changed air filter, both fuel filters up front, adjusted valves, diesel purged the injection pump, cleaned out ALDA vac line to turbo, adjusted idle to 7500, there are no fuel leaks around the injectors, and I also cracked each injector nut one at a time and they all made the idle worse. I put a meter on the plugs and all of them are glowing through their cycles like they should. My brother has the same car, same millage and his car starts sweet, and his engine sounds quieter and seems to not have the turbo lag mine does, ...what do you guys think? are there some other things I should check? .....I remember reading something about low compession in a cylinder could cause this and that the compression gets better when the engine warms up so then it dosen't idle so rough ??? I don't know, any sugestions? Thanks -Robby

It would be hard to make an educated guess without knowing what your compression is. Can you do a compression test?

Yeah I just bought a compression tester and am waiting for it to arrive in the mail, maybe that will tell me something eh..

Hopefully you will be able to rule out low compression as the cause.

Blue smoke is often associated with buring lube oil. Are you having to add oil on any regular basis.
After your compression test or if you pull the injectors to do the compression test take a look at the center of the pintals that stick out on your spray nozzles.
In this pic you see that the stock injector spray nozzles are drilled down the center and up higher drilled across. This is supposed to give you some pre-injected fuel during idle. On my car they were completely plugged with carbon and you need the correct size tiny wires to clean them. If your injectors are the origionals yours may be plugged also. I don't know if a Purge would clean them out ounce they are plugged.
