What's it worth? '95 E300D...
Hey, just wanting some input on a car, I'm checkin' out...1995 E300 Diesel, Smoke Silver/ Parchment MB-Tex, 114,000 orig. mi., southern car, no rust, no paint or body work, the newer polished aluminum look wheels, climate control works great, all original, glossy paint, excellent clean interior, no dash cracks, or M-B Tex wear (like it would), and service records. Its the exact same as my old one, but its been awhile, just thought I's ask the experts....what's this thing pull these days? Thanks in advance, sorry no pics yet....

don't overpay
I recently paid $4300 for a '95 E300d with 211,000 miles. Normally I wouldn't buy a car with this many miles, but I have all maint. records from day one, and the PO was an engineer who had his own workshop, and always maintaned the car with synthetic oil, etc. If I can get another 60,000 miles, I'll feel good about the deal. The body & interior are dead mint. Interior looks like a 20,000 mile car. No rust desert CA car. I immediatelly spent $926 on a trans flush, driveshaft rubber flex joints, and a new serpentine belt tensioner assembly. I probably paid about $1000 too much for it. But I really love the car. Gets 26-33 mpg. Everything works, no leaks. A few small problems like gauge bulbs, sunroof switch, etc. Many of the rubber suspension bits are worn--like the diff mounts, shocks, center drag link, etc. But still drives well. I want to replace all the rubber suspension stuff with uprated Meyle parts. Engine runs great, no oil burning, no leaks, trans too. I prefer these 124 models to the '96 & later cars.

I probably paid too much for mine
I bought mine in South Carolina off a lot. It was a one owner vehicle and serviced by MB though the documentation did not come with the car. The dealer where the car was serviced confirmed its repair/maintenance history. The car had 150K on the clock and I paid $7500.
What I didn't know until I was down in NC - I live in MI - was that the dealer had the car for about a year. It appears the owners of the lot were driving it and put about 8,000 miles on it before selling it. In that year they were able to do some damage by half-assing repairs. The biggest thing being bending up the transmission dipstick tube. This resulted in leaking fluid. I fixed this as soon as I noticed it. Now I have a clunking coming from the transmission when it is in reverse and I apply the brake. I have found other things to indicate their mechanics were pretty low budget. The interior is mint but the exterior no so much. It looks like it was vandalized. I was told it was hail damage over the phone. All in all I probably paid $2-3K too much for the car. Live and learn I guess, this is my first MB. I will know what to look for next time.
