107/70 speeding ticket

can you believe that!?! i can't! i was just pulled over by a cop this morning on my way home from church and wrote me a 107/70 speeding ticket.
i was arguing the with the cop that i am not doing 107 because there's just no way that my car can do 107 mph. it can't barely reach 100 on the dot. i was trying to contest it and told him that i know for sure that i am doing a bit higher than 95 mph but when i saw him but it's all too late. he told me that i need to go to the courthouse with my lawyer if i wish to contest the ticket and even if i'm only doing 95 mph, is still way above the speed limit. damn! lose lose situation. i guess i might just have to pay the fine, i hope its not over $100.

anyway, is there any chance that my speedometer is -10 mph off? i mean, it is reading 95, but the actual speed is 105? or is it my tire size, 205/75R14?

$100, I bet it is closer to $250 if not $500! I think the fines in NH start at about $100 for 10MPH over the limit now.

Speeding fines are way, way up since it is a great source of revenue for government....but doing over 100 MPH I expect they will nail you to the wall.

I am actually surprised they let you off only with a ticket and not reckless driving if he really thought you were going over 100. Good luck fighting it too.

Wow, that sucks. A three-digit speeding ticket in a 300D? You should go buy a lottery tickrt.

What did he write the ticket for? A 107 in a 70 certainly would be a few hundred min, probably some points possible reckless with loss of license. Never argue with a cop he isn't a judge, talk nice and maybe he would have beat it down to an 85 or something.

Now the burden of proof is on you, you have to prove in a legal manner that your car can't do 107. A 123 in good tune should be able to do about that, so good luck with that.

i really can't even believe it! his speed sensor is probably off or he just wanted to bite me in the a$$ and added another 10 mph just to jack my ticket up. i wish if i can rumble the right combination of the 107/70 written in my ticket, i might play it for lottery.

Disconnect your banjo bolt before proving that your car can't do 100

Here in Michigan they'd have pulled you over, arrested you, and placed you in a Jail Cell.

i don't know man/ but right now i'm happy with the way she performs and i'll just leave her alone as is. but if the cop wrote my real actual speed when he scanned me, i might be really doing 107 mph and only reading 95 something mph, and my 20+ years old speedo might be -10 mph off. if that's the case, i should only drive speed limit minus 10 mph

Now, in a British court of law, if a cop writes you up for 107mph and you conclusively prove that the vehicle is not capable of those speeds, or, he had writen the ticket for some other speed, and there for the speed your at court to answer is not the same......you get a, 'Case Dismissed'.

'fer instance....Me, doing 68 mph in a 60 mph area.....cop writes ticket for 65 mph.....got a paper summons to appear stating I was doing 68 mph.....judge threw out the case.
Everything has to match.

$100? You'll be lucky if you walk away from court still holding your licence.

In any case, DO NOT MAIL IN THE FINE. Appear in person. Alot of the time you can get a plea bargain for less than the face of the ticket.
