interesting door lock problem
I have a 1980 300SD that needs door lock attention. I can't use the driver's side, as I have discovered the locking mechanism really isn't attached on the inside (looks to be missing a part). The front passenger door locks fine from the inside or outside.
The rear locks - weird. They don't lock with the front passenger lock. But when you close the doors and get in, you can push down (with resistance), and lock one of them. It will slowly push the locking lever back up. However, if you try to push down the second back door lever, it immediately causes the back door lock to pop up. What's going on here, and how can I fix it? I have a vaccuum pump now, but not sure where to start.

I'm guessing that a common vacuum line is plugged someplace so there is no vent for the air, therefore locking one door forces the other to unlock. Just a guess.

May also be related to your driver's door problem. I occasionally have a similar problem that I think is due to sticking in the driver's lock, since it controls all the others.

Vacuum stuff
Go to Dieselgiant.com and look up the tutorial for changing out the master vacuum valve behind the door panel.
