Unhappy Transmission question

I changed my Transmisson fluid and filter about a week ago and I am now having some flaring problems. The transmission was not flaring before the change and all I did was a fluid and filter change. In fact the transmission was working very well with no problems before,I followed Dieselgiants DIY article. Help needed

What did you put into the transmission? (what kind of ATF?)

I used a good quality fluid from Canadian Tire. The car is a 1982 300SD with 429000 kilometers on it.

run it and get it warm and then check the fluid again. It may be either low or over filled.

You are checking the level with the engine running right, and while on level ground?

And it was working perfectly beforehand......You used a DexIII fluid?

You might check that it has the correct dip stick in it.....wouldnt be the first time that one from another vehicle had been substituted.

Silly question

Did you measure how much fluid came out and/or how much went back in?

Too bad. I would drop by a good honest automatic transmission place if you can find one and see what they say. Seems to happen somehow.
Almost a case if the transmission fluid is clean and red leave it alone. Possibly the new shot of fresh detergents in the fluid are too much. If it shifts hard with the vaccum line to the modulator on the transmission disconnected adjust the modulator. All I can think of at this moment.

Same thing happened to me.

Same exact thing happened to me with my 300E. Trani was working perfect, changed the fluid and about a week later it totally gave up. Ended up needing a new transmission... Hopefully you don't have the same problem! Check fluid levels ad give transX a try.

tranny flaring

If you should come to Mississauga - Clarkson area would recommend you have the transmission checked out by
Clarkson Fine Cars, 1105 Clarkson Road Tel. 905 8224150 www.clarksonfinecars.com. I think Andrew knows these cars very well.

I am wondering because I only did a filter and partial fluid change if the old fluid is now reacting with the new. The fluid that was in it was a nice clean colour, I have had the car three years and this is the first change I have done. Thanks for all the help.
