I can reach speeds alot higher than that, it's just if I stomp it the transmission slams into gear badly from 1st to 2nd, possible vacuum leak or broken transmission governor... I was also going uphill and trying to go around cars at the same time. I only get about 2800-3200 rpm stomping it around the 0-55mph range and 2200-4500 rpm at highway speeds. Maybe something wrong there, I don't really know...
Maybe if I can get a good straight away sometime this week and record the transmission shifts. Thanks for replys! |

Acceleration problems...
After driving around today, I really feel like the car is stuck in 4th gear, if possible... Is there anyway the car is stuck in limp mode where it wouldn't take off in 1st or 2nd? I never even feel the car shifting gears, (no shift shock at all, just surges). The only gear change I feel is when it slams through the 1-2 or maybe some other gear ratio 2-4???? I don't know if a bad flex disc would make the gears slip badly, or once again maybe the thought of the transmission governor who nobody wants to talk about.
Maybe a bad shift linkage?? Who knows? I think its going to get to the point where it gets stuck in 1st gear, and I have to get the transmission fluid and filter changed to keep driving. Does this sound like a problem someone could diagnose, or does it even make any sense? Thanks for replys and suggestions! Last edited by BenzB0y; 06-12-2008 at 06:21 PM. |

It sounds like you have vacuum problems. You also can adjust the shift stiffness on the side of the IP. Do a search it will come up.
Its not stuck in a gear, you can clearly see it shift in the videos. Just looks like you are using about 1/2 throttle.

Thanks!
All vacuum hoses have been re-routed and bypassed in certain places... EGR, ARV.
I usually have to keep the RPM's under 2K or else I get a nasty flare. Is that common in the older diesels or does it sound like I'm do for a transmission rebuild?
