617 transplant into a 380se?
Ok, I found an 85 380se for $300. Body is just a bit nicer than my SD and the interior is way nicer.
So how many little things that you forget about does it take to swap in a diesel in place of the gasser? If its too much work I will just strip the interior and take whatever else is better from the 380. Originally intended to just use the trans from the gasser for its internals to rebuild mine but after looking at the car its going to be a donor for some other things too. |

If they're both 126s it all should swap across. I think the speedo may be a problem if you keep the 247 rear end in the car.

You'll find the engine shock to be on the opposite side of the crossmember on either left or right side, I don't recall.
The glow plug relay wiring will need to be swapped into the gasser chassis or install a manual switch/relay. Ignition switch fuel cutoff will need to be swapped to the gasser. There may be some driveshaft work involved. It's been done many times before. Use the search feature and see what turns up. |
