Bellhousing mounted tach sensor for 84 300CD
Anybody know where to get one without paying > $50 for it?
I'd be happy with a good used one, if anyone has one they'd like to sell cheap.

So basically all W123 series - but only an 84 or 85 model, huh?

Well, I thought I had one, but it turned out to be no better than the one already in my car. Both measure right about 1.9k Ohms resistance as they should (according to the manual), but they only produce a few millivolts at idle - instead of approximately 4 volts like the manual says they should.
Anybody else got a GOOD one I could get from you cheap?

That's 4 volts while they are connected. It seems your sensor is OK - the amplifier (inside the tach or computer in those models) is not sourcing the current or you have a broken wire somewhere.

And I hear that broken wires do happen.......

why not get a used tach and tach amp, and wire in on the old-fashioned setup? I bet it could be cut from a parts car nearly for free.
Are you sure everything else works? JMH
