4spd grinds in reverse...sometimes.
Hey all.
Is this something really serious or might a fluid change help aleviate the problem? If so, 10w30?? Thanks |

Reverse is not synchronized. If you don't wait a few seconds or shift into 1st gear to stop the clutch from spinning it will always grind.

Another trick is to shift into first before going into reverse.
Push the clutch in, shift to first, shift to reverse, let clutch out to back up. The shift into first is synchronized and stops all the loose parts from turning, then they are stopped for when you shift into reverse. Ken300D

I have found if you let the car roll slightly, either forward or backward, with the clutch depressed it will slide right into reverse.
