85 300D fuel and turbo questions

Does anyone here know how to turn up the fuel on one of these? I recently made some modifications to my intake and exhaust systems, which increased the performance, but caused the idle speed to go up to 1000 - 1100 RPMs. I was reading in the service manual about turning the idle speed down and the instructions said to disconnect the throttle linkage and adjust the idle speed at the slotted screw and lock nut on the injection pump.

With the engine running, when I disconnected the throttle linkage, the RPMs immediately dropped to about 700-750 (normal). I adjusted the linkage to rest at this normal idle speed, but now the car has no accelerator pedal. I have to depress the pedal to the floor now and it is still slow. It seems there simply isn't enough fuel being delivered.

Do you folks know anything that might help with this condition?

You can search for more info on this site, but the basics of ALDA are that it's a device that reduces fueling during periods of low boost combined with high accelerator input in order to reduce smoke and increase fuel economy.

Changing the intake and/or exhaust will not raise the idle speed by that much unless it was severely restricted.

It sounds like the linkage ended up either misadjusted or binding after the work was done. Does anyone have the FSM for adjusting the linkage on a '85? It sounds like that's what is needed.

Thumbs up

That pivot arm at the firewall slips often, 10mm I think to adjust. And about 5 minutes.

I don't know if this site will cover what you need:

Also you did not say what part of the linkage you adjusted.
