I've just hit Autozone, 25.99 for 5quarts of M1 TD&T with a Bosch filter. Two of those and I have two spare Bosch filters for the gas cars in the fleet, plus a change for Rudy.

Advanced Auto has a 26.88 special for "any Mobil 1" and a Bosch filter, I bought a change for the van in the extended-performance which is a good discount (not included in the Autozone price, it is 29.99 there for the extended M1).

Now I need to find filters. Autozone and Advanced both carry the India-made Purolator/STP, Fram Gold at NAPA you can see the crap in the filter media, other store is WIX, are they any good and who makes the WIX filter for M-B diesels? Don't want to wait 'till Monday.

Well at that calculation... this is $2 a Quart. Or about $24 for 12 Quarts (3 gallons). Or if you double up thats $48 for 24 quarts. Or about three Oil changes at 8 quarts per change for $48. Or $16 per oil change.

I usually add a filter about every time I put in an order for some other part at one of the online MB parts places. Or in some cases I will not quite meet the free shipping amount so I add a few filters of various kinds to get there. Often getting one for free that way. That also allows me to get the brand of filter I want without hunting for those. And keeps me a couple filters ahead.

That is why I have around a half-dozen or more of each fuel filter, ... but I'm out of oil filters so it's time to order some parts. Just didn't realize it, and was buying the Knech Turkish filter locally until they ran out / switched to WIX.

The synthetic D1 stuff is more money so this is a pretty good deal. No O'Reily's near me anyway (nor dealer for my filters).

I normally am not a O'Reilys fan but I was searching all over for some High Temp plastic loving Epoxy when I ran into it. Just figured I would pass along the special for those of us that are using Dinosaur based oil. I was about to buy my normal Rotella T when the guy told me about it.

Wix is good filters. I think that NAPA brand filters are made by Wix. Used to be anyway. There is a Wix filter plant just up the road in Gastonia NC. So, at least some of them, are US made too.

I thought the wix filters do not have a separate by-pass section....?

I am switching to Baldwin Filters when all of our supply is gone.

I don't know about their Diesel filters as I don't use them.

I do know the Gasser filters are pretty good as far as construction material and filtration properties for the price.

I usually use Bosch Spin on Filters on our gassers.....either that or the Fram ToughGuard filters......I put a Bosch on our van a few weeks ago when I did that change.
