non-linear throttle response

this sounds a little weird but its happens more often now.
1985 300dt auto. 55k miles
lets say that the throttle travels 3 inches total
sometimes 1 inch of throttle launches the car faster than WOT from standstill.
this car is not a slouch at all it just doesn't like WOT
fyi air cleaner is good and i keep it serviced well.

my ?'s are:
could it be the ALDA and how can i test it to eliminate it?
a lot of threads find removing it (ALDA) increases power. what do you all think of this?
i saw some threads on restricted exhaust systems. is this common?
thanks in advance.

Try it with the air conditioner off.....

When you use WOT from a standstill, does it seem to hesitate them give you excessive smoke? On mine, I found that setting the ALDA too "rich" seemed to over-fuel the engine and cause hesitation at low rpm. Also, the '85 has a unique injection pump, so you might have something else going on. I would try to diagnose and resolve the problem before removing the ALDA.

It sounds like it could be ALDA related. Just don't bury your foot when you are starting off, you should gradually "feed" in the fuel with your foot.

The '85 IPs are not different other than the fact that they have an electronic rack position sensor on them.

the A/C was not on

no visible smoke from the tailpipe on WOT and NO hesitation felt. it rides great only i feel it could use more power, especially with A/C on and/or going uphill

remember it has only 55k miles :)

some threads recommend removing the vacuum lines from the EGR to get more power, however on an 85 with that electronic rack position sensor can i do that?

and then there is that ALDA thing i know nothing about

Maybe an issue with the throttle bushings or linkages?

See if your throttle linkage is up to spec. There's a small 10mm nut that holds the line from the firewall to the main levers at the IP area, that sometimes works its way loose (but won't fall off). This gives inconsistent feedback from engine response and pedal input.

Also check the bushing at the firewall, if it's going bad it can give the same inconsistency.

throttle linkage is fine that i can see.
is there any kind of boost limiter on this car that is adjustable?
waste gate opening up to soon?
ALDA?
