0-60 run

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TKKDub8-L0

Run was at sea leave, wind SW 5-10, level road(closed track!!!), temp hotter than hell!

I'll give it another try later when it cools off a bit. I didn't push the button down on the camra all the way so it started late.

The engine was also heat soaked from idling with the AC cranking for a bit, and with the hot air you certainly feel a bit of a power loss. Maybe I will ice the intake and try again!

Wow... is it really 99 degrees outside?

My work computer doesn't have sound, but I can use my imagination.

Sounds like crap, I can't even find the speaker on my camra I have no idea how it records sound!

Its actualy about 95ish, the probe is under the front plate and the temp rises as you sit. But once you get driving for a couple of minutes its actualy very accurite.

Our 300D could easily match your SDL. It pulls like crazy. I should do a video.....mine is probably equal to almost as fast.....none of our cars are slow.

When done right on a good day mine is good for 10.5ish to 60, NFW a stock 617 can do that. When it cools off a bit I'll do another, you can't make power when its 100+ degrees out.

They are dogs, this is my idea of a fast car!

I miss the CLK550 I got to play with last summer, getting back into my SDL was tough after that. I was like I'm flooring it yet nothing is happening!

Oh yeah, miss that V8 bark.

My wife has a CLK320, and that is fast! Can't imaging how fast the 550 is.

Thumbs up

I like to dork around town in my SDL, the 0-45mph power is nice as the turbo can pull the car around town very nicely. After that it still pulls, but not as strongly.

I raced my 300SEL with the SDL (got my brother to run me) and I pulled the SEL from the hole until about 45 then I got walked like I was sitting still.

The SDL would have no chance against the 560 or even a properly running 420 (which at this point in time are an incredible bargain!)

My 300SE goes from 70-100 pretty quickly...doggy off the line as one must choose between the too-short first and too-tall second. Will fix taht eventually.

Drove a 300SD last weekend, man that thing was slow. my 300D would smoke it of the line.

A lot of the old diesels that I drive are dogs because people don't know how to tune them.

They are not E63's, but should be able to move right along without much issue.

I agree.

That said I prefer to keep a K-Jet car tuned.

Diesels are pretty simple, they are just different than gas cars so people get intimidated.

For a 603, just make sure all your filters are clean, check the injectors, time it with the light, check the boost, clean out the overboots line, kill the emissions stuff. Make sure you are still getting WOT on the rack when you floor the pedal, turn the ALDA screw a bit. Thats really about it.

Unlike new cars where "tune up" is just a BS word, on old diesels you really do need to tune them up ever once in awhile, its all adjustments. If you ever look at the old service scheduals for these cars they mention a lot of that stuff, like checking and lubing the throttle links every couple of years.

I was laughing because the Toyota dealer was trying to sell my mom a "tune up" on her Rav4. I was like the coolant is good for 5 years, the plugs and fuel filter 100k miles, no belt. What do they do pop an air filter in and charge you $150 for it? New cars pretty maintenace free.
