Ever heard or see a 420 8 cylinders Diesel?

There is a news paper ad locally from a guy selling a 1985 420 8 cylinders diesel I haven't seen the car but he suers is a diesel Mercedes Benz 8 cylinders, as far as I know there are no 8 Cly diesels .

He is willing to bet the car that is a 8 cylinders diesel.

Is he right or he is a nut?.

Help because I will take his bet.

There is a modern 8 cylinder CDI. It could have been refitted into that older body somehow. He could win the bet that way.

Maybe it's got a GM 8 cyl diesel - what a terrible thing to do to a MB.

Yes, and easily a $20,000 engine.

Chevy seems a lot more likely.

More likely yet is the original gas 420 Mercedes engine.
