Question 1987 190D 2.5 Turbo Value ??

I may have the opportunity soon to buy a 1987 190D 2.5 Turbo.

What is the value of these cars ?

What MPG Highway do they get ?

How many miles are the engines rated for ?

TIA

"Value" questions...

The value of these cars is pretty much determined by their condition. I have paid as little as $783 for one with some rust issues and a worn transmission. I have seen "cream puffs" sell for 8K on Ebay.

While the 2.5T cars are probably the rarest of the W201's, they are still not impossible to find. I think there are 2 for sale on Ebay right now.

Great cars, 35+ mpg economy, and the engines can go for a long time (usually longer than the transmissions).

What is an "average" value for an average 190D 2.5T ?

Yep.

There is another thread (probably on the 2nd or 3rd page by now) about 190D economy numbers. 35+ mpg on the highway is in the "normal" range of reported values. I have personally achieved over 40mpg with a 5-speed 190D 2.5Turbo on a leisurely highway trip (traveling at the actual posted speed limit).

I would estimate that for a vehicle in "average" condition (which for this model might mean that there are some fixable electrical and/or vacuum issues), but with a rust free, straight body - that you might expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 - $4K. Like I said earlier, it all depends on the condition.

MB does not "rate" their engines for a particular distance. I have two 2.5 Turbos with over 200K miles, and there are plenty running around with far more than that. The transmissions usually cause problems before the engines ever do.

Here's the thread

Here's a link to the 190D mileage thread.

MB 190D OWNERS -what kind of mileage are your getting?

fastest production diesel of its time, very peppy. Plus a 5 speed swap is a lot easier than the other diesels since the 190D 2.5 non turbo came with a 5 speed in some cases ( I have one on hand )
