I shift at the dots.

Oh, you mean the automatic POS. Floored it shifts 1-2 at only 3500 for some reason. 2-3 and 3-4 are 4000-4500. The variation seems to depend in part on how warmed up the transmission is.

The automatic is no POS, a trans that can last 250k plus is a very well built piece of machinery in my book.....and its way nicer than shifting all the time....that just gets annoying in city driving.

As far as automatic transmissions go, it's a good one, and as far as I know is original at 306,000 miles. But it's still an automatic, so it's still a POS. I prefer manual transmissions at all times and under all circumstances. I massively prefer my 240D for around town driving BECAUSE it's a manual.

I used to occasionally drive on a road called ASR Uranium and it had enough potholes, IED holes, and just plain bad spots that speed ranged from a crawl to 30 mph or so and back several times each mile for over 30 miles. I did it driving an 8LL Roadranger (eight regular forward gears plus low and low-low), and even having to hit every gear from 2nd to 6th multiple times every mile, I'd take it over a slush.
