Its a fine meteric....I would go to the Ace hardware nearest and go on and pick a couple that look about right and try them. I would bet that you can get it in no more than three tries!

Drive your car to the hardware store and take one inside. Have them match it and before paying for it, try them. That's what I would do here.....of course, the hardware store is closed on Sunday.

I tried all of the hardware stores with no success it is a fine pitch metric but not the standard fine pitch. I ended up getting mine at the dealer when I was getting some fuses

If all else fails you can order them from the stealer. Part # 000085005151

sucks, the screws that I got with the car were nothing more than some garden variety wood screws or something like that, not machine screws.

I tried to remove one of the receivers for the bolts, it looked like it would unbolt from the body, nope. I ended up breaking it off.. So I went to lowes and tried out a bunch of machine screws, 10-24 by 3/4" works. I splurged and bought the brass machine screws with a slotted head. The brass will go well with the cadium plated bits. Now I just need to replace the broken receiver.

-edit-

I found some other machine screws in my tool box.. they are a slotted head as well... with 10-24 threads, but the head is more or less for a countersunk hole :(... Brass will stay

Oh, man, now you're going to have to get them chrome plated!:P

any word on an exact thread or what not?

apparently scum bags are stealing license plates at grocery stores now so they can steal fuel and or buzz tolls. I don't want my new plate getting stolen after I waited two months for it

I'm thinking of like a torx head or something.

One-way security screws. A b!tch to get out but how often do you really need to take off your own plate? :)

Anyone can get a torx and security torx bit set from a hardware store for $5.

those would be a last resort.. I don't think a scum bag would carry around a security torx bit drive.. unless he's a good thief and knows his trade

another option is to use a small carriage bolt with the nut inside the trunk

10-24 is also what I have used in the rear. 1/2" is sufficient for me, I don't use license plate frames. These work on the W124 rear too.
