weird front end shake

I am getting a weird shake from the front left from 50-55 mph but higher than that it disappears. I rebuilt the front end two years ago, except the guide rod bushings since I didnt have a spring compressor on hand. I am currently running some 8 hole wheels which require spacers up front. They are bolted on correctly and torqued down as per factory specs.

I am going to go out and remove the wheel and see whats up, I had this issue after getting the wheels on and I had to dremel the spacer a little more to make it fit. I also have new lug bolts

Your new wheels are significantly heavier than your old ones I bet. The extra unsprung weight will acerbate any problem that preexisted.

Of course you could be having a simple spacer or bent wheel problem which can be checked by swapping the wheel someplace else (on the car).

Well, the wheels up front can't be swapped to the rear since the offset is different.

I wonder if the shocks could be bad, I have no idea how old they are.

Can you see where the wheel weight was?

my mistake, the passenger side front wheel doesn't have a weight and I cannot tell where one was on that wheel.. weird.

But the left side does in fact have an ugly weight on it.

I know, I know....

Don.

The weird shake you are feeling is either being caused because you don't have gold plated metric screws holding your license plate on OR because you haven't installed a working window regulator in your driver side front window.

I believe you have narrowed down the problem..... Check your new wheels for runout. I've found lots of wheels that are wobbly, especially aftermarket ones.

Wheels could still have suffered damage, and a spacer can be off as well.

Try spinning them and check the wheel/tire with a dial indicator.

Also, swap fronts to rear. The rear is much less finicky to runout.

You might also have a belt problem with the tire.

Jim

I can't swap front to rear......

I don't have a dial indicator.

I've also had to do a panic stop once with them, could that have shifted the belts?
