is it possible to manually close power windows on '82 300D

Hi,

I have a 1982 300D and lately the power windows have stopped working, and then started again. At the moment they are not working. One is about 3 inches down and the other is about 4 inches down. The locking switch has no effect. We have checked the fuses, and they are ok. Is there a way of manually closing the driver's and passsenger's windows?

Thanks very much.

The only way I know is to take apart the door, but this sounds like an electrical problem. Have you checked all the fuses? There are two individual fuses for the windows, but (as I recall) the window has a relay that is powered from another fuse (maybe number 8, I don't remember).

Pull the switch out of the door and run 12v to the two wires going to the motor (black and green?) If the window goes down switch the polarity. If nothing happens you know it is the motor.

... or maybe jump 12V to the window fuses and try the switches again?
