Anyone in Santa Cruz, Wanna Help?

My friend is looking for a 123 or 115. this would be her first Mercedes. despite my explanation that 240s are slow she told me that any Mercedes was ok as long as it was a diesel.

Well i just spotted this car on Craigslist:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/722464829.html

I'm in Sacramento and she is in Santa Rosa. so there is no one close to give the car a look. the owner says the car "runs but needs engine work" I've seen my fair share of Mercedes where "runs but needs engine work" means needs a valve adjustment, I've also seen them say "runs but needs engine work" and have it be a rod knock.

is there any one in the Santa Cruz area who could look at this for me?

a seat of the pants compression test where you watch the oil cap bounce would help.

Zack? what do i need to bribe you with to get you to go over the hill? BUDDY :D:D:D

Cant complain for the price, but when they say "you probably should tow it" you should probably run away from it. But maybe if you are handy?

Probably worth finding a cleaner example and just pay the price.

Nik, I'll be selling my 1985 300D-T (W123) soon. Since I'm in Santa Rosa, you might want to have your friend call me. PM for contact info if you've lost my number.

I've a co-worker here in Rosamond, CA that's trying to sell his '78 300D. Ivory with Palomino Interior. Other than a fussy rear window regulator and maybe dirty injectors, the car is mint. He wants $6000 though.

I looked at this car in San Jose about 6 months ago for $300 and I passed on it. The motor is shot. it also has a broken back window and questionable registration from out of state amongst other things. It might be good for parts, but it's not worth it for a driver.- Scott

Sorry Nik, finals next week and projects this week. Too hectic. I saw that car though, looks like a steal. Figure $1200 MAX with a motor swap.
