115 616 vs 123 616 cam towers

are they the same? will the later 123 cam work in the 115? will the 123 cam give it more power?

I don't know anything about swapping 115 and 123 valvetrain parts, but I do know that early 123 cams are different from later 123 cams. You have to use the correct cam followers that go with the camshaft. I think the difference is the hardness.

I checked cross references and found that my 123 and 115 heads both carry the numbers 616 016. The cam chains are the same too, so I concluded that the cam towers must be the same too.

Someone tell me if I am wrong about this, please.
