C111-IID Diesel concept car
http://www.worldcarfans.com/5040823.001/page2/mercedes-benz-c-111-power-elegance-and-speed
Apparently it used the 617 NA engine that they must have just developed. With a turbocharger and intercooler they were able to get 190HP. Just an interesting fact as Im sure you all know this existed and they had a diesel but I for one never knew it used a 617. Maybe someone should call up an old team member and ask how they did it? Also anyone got pics of the engine bay of this oil burner?

I want to know how they got that 617 to pump 170kw out for 12 hours non stop (and managed 14.7mpg)

More fuel, more boost and the usual oil cooled pistons and oil coolers.
I imagine they did all the things they did on the production turbo motor and then some, but I imagine it was simply the same stuff taken to a higher level. Tom W

The orange road car version was in the gift shop. The silver test car was located in the Hall Of Concepts on the wall. Good old fashioned aeromodding for yer. |
