4spd drain plug location?

Hey my knowledgeable friends!

Anyone here know where I can find the drain/fill plug for the 4spd tranny on my 78 240d?? Driver/passenger side?? Toward engine or driveshaft??

Now lets see.....if I wanted to drain a tranny of all its fluid where would I put the drain?

Try the bottom center.

Drain- Bottom
Fill- midway center on passenger side.
Both use a 14mm allen socket.

For that side one you may need to grind the 14mm down a bit. I did because of the sound proofing that came in the turbo models. Otherwise a 14mm crescent can be used in place of a ratchet. Make sure you do the fill plug first and have a hand pump.

I ran into the same situation that Winmutt explained above when loosening the fill plug. I cut off a 1" section of a 14mm allen wrench and used the box end of a wrench to turn it.

It can be filled topside if you have 3' of tube and a funnel.
