I got about eight years out of the ones I installed on the SE. Do you remember what brand you installed. I'm about to replace them on the SD and I'm not too keen on repeating the job in a year.

Really poor aftermarket quality. Post the brand if you can remember to spare others from a simular situation as requested. Try getting the part supplier to supply some replacements of another brand free. Not too likely the way this world functions but I would ask. Maybe aftermarket from the original oem manufacturer carries the least risk with parts of this nature.

So many aftermarket rubber parts from CHINA fail so quickly.

Stick with an OE part for longer life!

Have you done any modifications to the engine? messing with the flywheel and harmonic balancer will mess with the rod bearings..

The suppier was a guy on E-bay Importbaron--The guide rod bearing came in a bag with no name. Great price but not worth it in the long run. I'm replacing them with Febi brand.

Did you replace the rubber bushings at the control arm as well?

I think he's talking about the guide rod bushings

To me it sounds like there is another problem as well like the lower control arm bushings.

I saw those, and was tempted, but after reading his feedback no thanks.

I try hard not to buy that kind of crap on ePay, used parts are used parts but more than 90% of the new parts on fleabay are junk. When you add the outrageous shipping most sellers charge nowadays, it's cheaper to buy from a WorldPac interface, many offer free shipping. Plus, you at least have some recourse if there is problem.

I got burned once buy a seller who advertised a NOS GM window motor in the box from a closed dealership. What arrived was a generic part in a plain white box.

I replaced the guide rod bearings (bushings) the part under the drivers and passenger floor board it has the horizontal arm threaded into it and is connected on the other end to the bottom of the control arm also replaced the lower control arm bushings.

Forget my comment on approaching the seller. You were perhaps lucky to even get what you got. This guy is distinctly in a class by himself. If only he would stay on his meds.:)

What is really sad is he did appear at one time to have good mercedes parts knowledge. My suspicion is he actually gets off by abusing people. Much the same as the mad dog that bites the hand that feeds it.

Really a sad case and not that common. He may even read this comment. Yet it cannot be stated strong enough to not deal with this guy. He even appears to have gone out of his way to damage people on occasion to satisfy his meglomania.

I just personally loved his comment that 90 percent of us Canadian buyers are bad. Actually most of us try very hard like myself to have 100 percent feedback.

When requesting an American seller to let us bid they are in a lot of cases going to examine our individual feedback carefully before commiting. So it stands to reason we want exceptional feedback that in some ways by sellers comments exceeds the 100 percent feeling. I have that but in one transaction with a person like him it could be be easily damaged. .
