Alex - The numbers on the metal plate on your radiator are the options that were ordered with your car. I remember seeing a post that deciphered these numbers. You should try a search on this forum using various words to try to find it. If you have no luck, try doing a Google search. I know it is out there, it is just a matter or a little detective work.

There is also a number stamped on your transmission that identifies it. You will have to get under the car to see it, and you may need to wipe away a bit of road dirt and grease.

The 115.117 identifies your chassis, or body style. The D is for Deisel. It looks like your car was manufactured in December of 1974.

Someone posted a matrix that shows all of the body style and engine numbers, along with transmission numbers. I have it saved on my home computer and will send it to you later.

Good luck with your new car.

I believe that this is a site you might be interested in. It is the Mercedes Benz club Russia site but you plug in your vin number and it tells you all of the stuff your car was supposed to have come with. Your vin in on the driver side front window pillar (on mine anyway)
http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/view.html?lng=eng

Also If you go to the Diesel Giant site he has some pictorials that tell you were to find the engine and transmission number and so forth. Google Diesel Giant.

Attached is a useful chart of information that was put together by another forum member. I had it saved in Microsoft Excel but had to translate it back into a text file to post it here. You may want to go back to the source to see a good copy of it.

you can also email the Classic Center throught the MBUSA website at http://www.mbusa.com/heritage/contact-classic-center.do. Give them the complete serial or VIN (the 115.117 number) and ask for the build sheet, they will usually respond within 24 hrs with the full build sheet for your 1975 W115 240D, including a copy of the build tag from the factory. Too bad the Russian site doesn't go back farther than 1980.
