ACC switchover valves- too hot, or not?

I noticed that in my 1984 300D, the switchover valves that control the vacuum to the AC/heater flaps get very hot, almost too hot to touch.

I noticed this after about a 45 minute drive with the AC on.

Is it normal for the switchover valves to get this hot?
