Output Shaft Seal Torque Spec
Hello friends,
My FSM CD from Mercedes covers *nothing* related to the transmission, as many of you know. I am replacing a leaky tranny output shaft seal on the wife's 83 300D. Would one of you be able to provide the torque spec for the 12-pt nut that holds the yoke against the output shaft? Much thanks in advance, Garrison

According to Sun Valley 75 lb ft. Be sure to use a new nut. If you reuse the old one it will not hold the peen you must put in it to lock it to the output shaft. There's an indentation machined into the output shaft that you must peen the nut into to lock it in place, or it will back out. I bought my 82 SD from someone who said the trans was N/G. Turns out the nut had loosened, allowing the output flange to disengage the output shaft.
