87' 300TDT Block Heater Leaking Anitfreeze

I just got my car back from the shop and the only thing they did not address was the coolant leak. If you are in front of the car, and facing the car, the bottom left corner of the radiator is where the fluid is dripping from. That also happens to be the spot where my heater block cord dangles (need to address that too I know) and it has been getting progressively worse over the last week.

Anyway they said they saw it leaking from the block heater. I came on here to find out information and I have been finding out a lot of info from the W123's but not the W124's. I am not sure how different the OM603 is from these other cars.

Is this a DIY project or should I have the shop do it? I have friends who can help me out with this but none have replaced a heater block before. I would love to save a few bucks doing the replacement myself but then again I was hoping to find a DIY thread.

Who knows! Maybe I missed the DIY thread and there is one. If so let me know, I am only human

Thanks for reading...

Must be a lower radiator hose heater. I can't imagine how a true block heater would leak at the radiator. Is there a heater in your lower radiator hose?

What kerry said. I'm tempted to think a water pump leak is dribbling down the lower radiator hose if your car is unmodified since the block heater it would have come with from the factory is aft of the front axle, regardless of where the electrical cord is stowed.

Reach up there from under the bumper if you can, that is the location of the radiator draincock. Mine got loose last spring, left a dribble or two whenever parked.

The block heater is low and toward the rear of the block on the passenger side, and it is tie-wrapped in a couple of places, water would not run forward to the radiator on that cord.

@Everyone - 2morrow when I get home I will get under there and take some pictures; the hose that looks like it has thin metal wire wrapped around it (or coiled around it), is that the line going to the heater? I know I have seen drips coming from around there too I just assumed it was trickling down that line and dripping from the bottom of the rad.
