Once you get older its the hotdog down the hallway scenario.....

Sounds like a good outcome so far. Driving it for awhile might be your best bet at assessing any damage. Interesting to see if oil consumption increases.

My lady knows about car stuff (sorta), and does have some interest in it, but doesn't like getting dirty doing work on one. She drives a toyota currently....eventually we'll either get her a VW or a MB when the toyota dies.

She came mighty close to killing her Rav4 recently, it was parked nearby and I had been working on my car, so I thought "hey, I haven't checked over the Toy-ota recently, I think I will" so I check the oil, its NOT SHOWING ON THE STICK. I add 1qt....gets it to maybe the bottom of the "add more oil" marking...still a ways from full. So I add some more, then I decide what the heck, I have a whole bunch of new synthetic for this anyways, and drained it all out, and did a Mobil 1 0w30 oil + Mobil 1 filter ($25 deal at AZ) oil change and it was all set. It gained 2mpg with the new oil and the tapping sound (lifters possibly) went away, runs real quiet. However, we'll be keeping a better eye on oil consumption.... It had eaten about 1.7qts of dino oil in 2200 miles. Thats a lot when you realize the sump only holds 4.3 total!

I check my fluids at least once a week, and always before extended drives.

It scared her when I told her what she could have done to the engine with low oil, so she'll likely stay on it more.

My wifey's pretty savvy with auto related stuff, even household repairs and carpentry. Back when we were putting her truck engine together, she helped plastigage the bearings and torque the heads. (with a quick how to lesson) No worries about not getting a call if things go south out on the road.

Sometimes you have to wonder if common sense really does exist in the majority though, you just see so many people do dumb things these days, be it lack of training or otherwise. Take yesterday @ work, what is one thing you think everyone knows about electricity? Do NOT ever, ever get water near it or be standing in water near it. Well I get a call 5 minutes before shift, compresors went down, loud bang was heard outside. I go downstairs to find a cleanup guy with a firehose, washing things down, spraying water all over this 480V control center, right into the main bus bars! He tripped an 8000A switchgear breaker, standing in a lake holding the hose, and lived to tell of it not even having a clue what he did. Amazingly he didn't damage it either, beyond 3 hours of disassembling, drying, testing, reassembling. He's on unplanned vacation now.

I wouldn't really know about such things . . . . . Also, better to accidently find yourself with some STP in the bedroom than some STD.

I just didn't want OD to be the only forum in which a seemingly innocent thread about nearly any topic could easily deteriorate into a thread about sex . . . . Even oli threads are not safe.

there are no threads that are safe from deterioration into a sex path...
some are just easier to jump than others... :"car is shaking my wife's boobs" comes to mind...
I'm not kidding...
My wife's boobs are shaking uncontrollably

I have a friend who was dating a woman for 5 years. She bought him a very neglected, but complete Alfa Romeo Giulia as a present. Then she stripped all the undercoating off it and helped with the rest of the restoration.

One year later they got married. Now they have 5 kids.

I'm single and still waiting to find a woman like that.
