You should be able to get new copper washers from any fuel injection shop that works on Bosch Fuel Injection Pumps. By the way the big item in the middle of the line drawing diagram is the Fuel Injection Pump. The 4 Fuel Injectors can be seen in ForcedInductions photograph of the Cyinder Head.

According to my old Boss’s US Navy Machinist Mate Manual copper washers that are not too deformed can be heated Red Hot which softens them for reuse. I hang them on a coat hanger wire and heat them with a Propane Torch when I cannot get new ones.

Check the oil livel in your fuel injection pump and see if it is diluted with fuel. (I used your pic).

The reason I am asking you to check is i believe you said nothing was connected to that part that is leaking. I am about 80% convinced that the parts circled are used to allow the over flow to drain off if the Fuel Injection Pumps oil sump is overfilled.
Please let me know the results.

I believe you are right Diesel911. It makes sense. The dipstick is recessed about half way up with two notches near the bottom like any other dipstick. Didn't even know it was there. The oil level is at the top of the recess and is very clean. Doesn't feel like/smell like oil. Everything in the engine room smells like diesel so it's hard to tell. I sent you a PM basically stating the same stuff.

The rear tube connection was leaking a while ago, but then stopped. The engine has run about 10 hours since then (about once a month)

It is dripping from the barb on the banjo, not around the gaskets.

Thanks again for everyone's help. These are my first diesels.

John

The upper part of your Fuel Injecetion Pump (the high preessure part that creates the pressure for the Fuel Injectors) is lubricated by the Diesel Fuel itself. The lower part of the fuel injection pump is lubricated by motor oil that you have to put into the pump yourself.
Many people do not know that the older Fuel Injection Pumps are not lubricated by pressurized oil from the engine itself.
While it is normal after long periods of operation for small amounts of Diesel Fuel to seep down into the Fuel Injection Pump oil sump it is also possible that the Elements (plungers and barrels of the pump; the parts that create the high pressure for injection) ar worn and seeping more than normal.
I would find the drain plug on the Pump oil sump and drain all of the liquid out. Put the sump plug back in and replace it with 40W or 30w motor oil.
Just use the engine as normal but check that dip stick and see if the oil level keeps rising over time due to the Diesel Fuel dilution.
If the fuel dilution seems like it is a lot you have 2 choices if your engine is running good. You can just use it they way it is and keep changing the oil as needed when you feel it is getting too diluted or you can have the Fuel Injection Pump rebuilt which will coast around $800-$1,2000 each.
Also as the other member suggested it would not hurt to run a hose to a container to catch the overflow and keep the liquid out of your boat.

OM636-marine version of classic origional Merc diesel-Westfield 4x4 Lancaster UK is the place for parts for this and automobile version-they specialise in those fitted to the origional Unimogs. For those of you in Canada try Unimog specialist whose address is in Orillia,Ontario-belive its Fairgrounds Road near my brother in laws.
As for the inline injector pump some of later ones were fitted with a pressurised oil line from engine oil pump.
