Upgrade to pencil type glow plugs
Well I have already made a mistake, now I would like help fixing it.
I ordered 4 autolite glowplugs for a 81 240d to convert my 1978 240d. First, I now know that autolite is lame. I also don't know if those plugs will even work. I read Dieselgiant's website about converting and now just want to know if I can get plugs at my local part house and for what model I should be asking for. Also, there are many many posts about reamers, does anyone now the best AND cheapest one out there? Price is a concern, but so is quality. Thank you for all and any replies. |

Have the supplier send the autolight plugs back if they come in. You may have to pay a small amount. Perhaps not. They are junk. Get the bosh conversion plugs with the big base.
Even if you have to mail order them in. Check the parts list of this site sponsor. Very satisfied customers plus they can easily relate to your needs on most items for mercdes. |

They won't work. The holes are a very different size that require special glowplugs MB never used.

the "conversion" pencil plugs are sold many places, but I don't think you can get them in a auto parts store. online I searched and searched. found a place selling them cheap, ordered them, and got a refund cause their website was incorrect... ended up ordering them here on the site.
have fun!
