Engine parts..

Im wondering where you guys find your rebuild kits or parts for your mercedes engines? (616 617) I found these piston rings but the rod and main bearings are nowhere to be found without going to fastlane.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-BENZ-2-4-240D-DIESEL-PISTON-RINGS-2M5325-020_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247QQcategoryZ33623QQihZ014QQitemZ330188105541QQrdZ1Q QsspagenameZWD1V#ebayphotohosting I Dont think that fastlane sells rebuild kits for these engines, do they?

There probably isn't a rebuild kit. You'll have to determine which sizes you need depending on the boring, honing, or sleaving that has been done. You can find head gasket kits that include all the gaskets needed to seal up the head.

Thats why we ususally reuse the pistons and just sleeve it. Its a lot of work but a lot better than buying new pistons!

During this process I have spoken to a few benz mech that were active in the dealerships when these engines were being serviced (when it made sence to fix them..ha). Majority of them said it WAS most cost and time effective to bore and change the pistons. Again, this was at a dealership that wanted to save labor and sell parts. But they all said they had great results. Really, those pistons go through hell.
