The bad news is it's seen lots of salty highway miles, and no leather or heated seats, the good news is it looks to be in pretty good shape and is a late '87 car.

Look for rust in the rocker panels toward the front and around the jack points, the first place it goes through. The transmissions are known for problems around that mileage, and head leaks & head gaskets are weak points on the '87s.

If the climate control works properly, lucky you, but unplug/check the auxiliary (coolant) pump and be sure it is not seized / drawing too much current or it will take out your climate control unit.

The cross-member above the radiator comes off, if you remove it you can separate the A/C condensor and radiator enough to get all of the crud out between them, it will help your radiator and A/C noticably.

If you're shorter than 6' it is a great car, without power seats though the 6' and over crowd will be brushing the ceiling all of the time (me). That is probably the main reason I sold mine.

Great car to drive, lots of fun, I was able to get high 30s consistantly and low 40s on careful trip driving, with all of the right fluids and stuff, with my 190Dt automatic.

Good luck with that venture. Now if you are looking for a good write off, a used Mercedes should suit you just fine.

i have no clue what you talking about? you mean selling her will be hassle? i do not think so, properly maintained this car gets around 40 miles and from what i hear its a joy to drive, it might be old and not very good looking but this car is money!

Let us know.

I'll be interested to hear what you have to pay to buy this car. Will it be purchased from a wholesale auction? If so, my guess is that it will go very cheaply. If it is sold at more of a retail price, I suspect that you will not be able to "flip" it for much of a profit.

You might have a problem selling it because of the diesel fuel price as you may know it gone up to $4-$5+ per gal and i know alot of people that are trying to get rid of their diesel cars asap before diesel goes up even more, I know i am doomed with my 300SD, I even tried the ad and none called.

I have been blending in my 88 190d a 75% wvo , 20% diesel ,5% gas ,with a 3 part additive topper of 2oz of marvel ,2oz of heet ,then a bit of startron to get it keep it bug free.Just for fuel savings alone this car is pulling me through a major fuel crisis. It starts up on a dime with no real change except a need to keep an eye on your primary filter every couple of days.My experience has been changing it every week and it really doesnt need but I do it anyway .A need to dewater and filter well your wvo is a must but after you tackle that its a bit like padding your wallet. The time it takes to make 50 gallons is well worth the savings.Collecting ,filtering , all can be done in a 3 hr period .The only part of the step that takes time is dewatering and that step really takes care of itself if done properly.Buy it ,blend your own fuel and let it pay for itself .

OK since we are way OT, why are you putting gas in a diesel engine?

Its the Cetane number on the 75% wvo side that needs boosting ,thats the reason for the rug, regular unleaded gas.The Cetane number is actually a measure of diesel fuels ignition delay, Octane is defined by its autoignition resistance. Not to get too complicated but thats were the rub is ,the fuel needs a helper to keep it in a zone of its best performance for ignition. To much Rug the mixture burns too hot so to speak, not enough rug , its not burning effieciently.A 5% ADD is as much as you want to use .Compared to its amount of WVO being used its like adding a tablespoon of sugar to your coffee in the morning. Its only for the daring ,but after youve experienced the savings it gets addicting.

So you believe that gasoline is a cetane booster. I would like to read the science behind that theory. If I can burn gasoline in my diesel, I can save some money.

Right or wrong...

Not saying it's right or wrong, but I beleive that most of the "blenders" use RUG to "thin out" or reduce the viscosity of their WVO blends. My personal opinion is that RUG does not increase the cetane rating of WVO.
