It's white, has seen road salt, has some rust...

It's an 87 190D 2.5 turbo AT. Quite peppy for a Diesel. Could do as well as 30mpg city/35mpg highway in good tune. Probably the rarest of the 190 series. Not availabe with MT so don't hold your breath. Can be converted to MT if you have a donor 190.

Price would depend on condition, history and documentation. Does AC work? Are the seats supportive? Does the tranny shift properly and not slip? From the looks of it, it would probably fetch $6000 on eBay with some 50mpg and 500K miles longevity embelishment. Maybe half that from an optimistic member of this forum.

0-60 mph is spec'd at 10 seconds vs 15 seconds for a 190D 2.5 or the 82-85 300D turbodiesel.

Reliability is good, driveability is great. I get about 32mpg city/hwy combined (about 50/50) with mine. If you're thinking of buying, also take a close look at the top of the injection pump for weeping/leakage of the delivery valve seals.

Show them the cold air intake vents, that might work. The car has the wrong coolant in it at present. Is that rust on the passenger side wheel well by the bumper?

190 class cars

If you are interested in luring chicks to your car, check out the 190revolution.net website. Those guys are deeeeep into 190 class Benzes, and quite a few of them are "Pimped Out".

That car is among the fastest of the Pre-96 MB diesels. Handling can be as good as you want it to be. I have several (check my sig lines) To me, the biggest drawback is the lack of rear seat room. This is not important to everyone, but be aware that the back seat is not a good place for adults.

My 2 cents - you can't go wrong with an '87 2.5 Turbo if you can get it for a reasonable price. The one pictured looks pretty original. If you could get it for less than $3K, you would be in good shape.

What $3000 car is a chick magnet? Conversely, do you want the type of gal who's attracted to a $3000 car???
