Smile Outside Temp

Help me out here! My "new" 300TD is out at the paintshop until, gasp
NEXT Thurs. I am without a project! On a holiday weekend no less.
I've repaired my wife's warping wood in the SD, took off and repaired
her glovebox door. Did a search to fix her dead clock...am I desperate?
I repaired her dome light in a similar manner as mine, but hers was not the
xsistor but only the switch. In doing all this I noticed that she has an outside temp gauge. I'd like one in my TD. Since neither car is here right
now, I'd like to ask if that little temp gauge insert is "adaptable" to the
w123 from the w126? Hmm maybe 4.5 days off in a row is getting to me.

I dunno if it will fit in the cluster... but you will need the temp sensor and wiring if you plan on putting on in the W123 Best bet is to hunt in the junkyards for the parts.

get a display that is clear and it should work. If it shows black inside the window it is shot

i would like to see a write up on this as well. I pulled a sensor and display and all the wiring from a junker but never tried to install it. I am unfortunatley very electrically challenged

The center strip on the W123 cluster is for the rare column shift model's PRNDSL display.

IS that an OLD photo? Did anyone else notice the mileage? Or is the odometer broken?

Would a w126 cluster fit in a w123 opening? That would be one way to get it in there......of course, you might want to change the oil pressure\engine temperature\fuel guage ....and then there is the odometer.....and the clock.

So, start with a bear boned w126 instument cluster with just a temp display and add to it.........I just don't know if that would work. I don't think I would want to go to all that trouble; plus then you would have a w123 without a "standard cluster".

I love the 140MPH speedo

That's marked at 55 mph with a red line...Those were the days.Of absolute
frustration.

Yeah, and there is talk of getting frustrated again. just politictians (sp).

I have been looking at the spot on my 123 thinking the same thing. that spot needs something to fill it.

Is there any way to tell if a temp display is ferenheit or centigrade?

I'll start looking

I'll keep my eyes open for a temp display and sensor. If I get it mounted
tastefully I'll put up pics of the project. I'm pretty set on finding one and
making it work.
