Hello and thanks for being here. Question : are ALL 300D M-B turbocharged? I am looking at one long distance and want to know if it is turbo or not ? It is Supposed to be fro Germany w a 6 cyl not a 5 cyl? It has the "newer" body style if you know what I mean.Thanks for help,GFC

1982-1985 are turbocharged. 1976-1981 are not.

Thanks ,I checked the V.I.N. the sller provided but it makes No sense compared to what the vehicle is.I think they copied it wrong it listthe vehicle as much older and a gasser.I really appreciate your info .

Your vin is for a 124 model and not a 123. Euro sedan 300D's were not turbocharged (typically).

You can put a turbo in this car but I wouldn't bet on longevity. Spend your time and effort finding a good 87 300D turbo or 90-93 300D 2.5 turbo.

Europe had the W124 prior to '86 when offered here in the US. That is simply a W124 Euro 300D. Quite a rare bird!
No, you can't just slap a turbo on a non-turbo car. The list of extra parts is huge and the engine is made different internally from one designed for a turbo.
I would expect the $910 current price to climb prior to auction end......

Thank you all very much,maybe a little belatedly. I did buy the EURO W124. I will head East in a few days to pick it up.Any suggestions for the 'tranny slips' issue? I hope its not a pig in a poke!!! LOL!!! I would have prefered a 5 cylinder w turbo but maybe one will come along.....How do I learn to decipher all this Mercedes code? I am very well versed in other Mfg. internal coding but this is 'foreign' to me no pun intended. Thanks I need All the help I can get.
