Odd - power robbing - quick shifts?
Weird new quirk. From a stop, my vehicle shifts through all four gears before I even hit 20MPH. Engine idle doesn't change, just a series of annoying klunks.
I've been manually shifting it since this started. Works fine. On further inspection I noticed that my vac line to the transmission has been cracked for quite some time, possibly since I've owned the vehicle. But connecting it would be useless, my "Master" modulator on the IP is broken. Need - stick - now.

Vacuum has nothing to do with shift timing, check your bowden cable.

Yep, when I bought my 82 the bowden cable was on the wrong side of the throttle linkage. Shifted exactly how yours does, made for some good negotiating room though. "Seems the transmission is on it's last legs..."

I'll give the bowden an inspection then.
Next: so what does the vacuum control then?
