as long as you had a little bit of fluid in your tranny, you should be ok.. i would be worried about the bands in the tranny though..

I spoke with the Mercedes Transmission God and he flatly stated that he's not intervening to save your transmission unless you change that burnt fluid immediately. You'll need to either drain the t/c or spend the big money for one of the "transmission flushes".

Driving it 200 miles with burnt fluid is not in the program.

If the fluid is burnt you better change it before you drive it, or you really will be screaming to the MB God for a $1,500 rebuild.

Ask and ye shall receive.

double flush it. Tourqe converter and everything. There is a drain plug on the torque converter FWI. It is accessible through the little vent type thing near the front of the trans.

If I take it to a quick change oil shop type place and they do the fluid push exchange, will it change the fluid in the torque converter as well? It has almost a fresh fluid and filter change. Obvioulsy the fluid is no good now, but I would assume the filter is stil fine.

I don't have any ramps and/or drain pan where I'm at so I'd prefer to take it to an exchange place. Would hooking it up to a flush machine get the torque converter fluid changed as well?

Thanks for all the help.

Yes, the flush machine will exchange all fluid in the unit...........if they run it for a sufficient length of time.

Change the filter as well..........while you're in there.

Okay, thanks. I guess I was just assuming that most places would not have the correct size filter on hand. Like I mentioned I'm in Northern MN. I doubt too many M-B's come through their shops. I'll ask. If they have one I'll have them change it.

Thanks again.

If not, most Advance or Autozone's will have a filter/gasket kit.

And remember to check the fluid while running, hot, level, and in park.

I took it to a Valvoline and payed $98 for a transmission flush. I figured it cost less than a rebuilt transmission. It still shifted great the whole way there (20 miles into town) and the whole way back. The burnt smell is now gone.

They didn't change the filter. They claimed the flush cleans the filter and I was comfortable leaving the old one in as I have less than 1000 miles on it.

So all seems good.
