1985 OM617 expansion tank heat shield typo?

The factory's "Introduction into service" manual for the 1985 model year shows a heat shield that is supposed to protect the "coolant reservoir" from the heat of the exhaust manifold in the model 123.

However, my 1985 model 123 (300D Turbo) has a different heat shield -- not like the drawing at all. Additionally, the drawing shows an intermediate firewall that the 123's never had. Might this be a typo, with the W126 being intended? I would appreciate hearing from 1985 W126 owners -- does your engine compartment look like "Fig. 104" in the attached drawing?

Jeremy

Later W123 models had a heat shield lower by the battery box.

That pic shows the California version air cleaner, so I can't comment on what those look like. My '85 is a Federal and doesn't look like that.....

As shown in the attached photo. Thanks for mentioning that. Clearly, it's a different heat shield than the one in the factory drawing.

We need to hear from some SD owners!

Good point. Is the drawing of a 1985 300SD California version?
