New cv boot kit

Has anyone installed the rear axle cv bootkit sold by **************?
They include a crimp tool for the cans for $120 + ship. My boots are cracking but not yet torn and I can't hear any noticeable noise when rotating the axles. 196k on the car which seems to have been well maintained.
All opinions welcome.
Andrew

Just because of higher prices, lower quality or what?
I priced out boot kits from ******** and they were more with no tool.
My question is about the actual install and tool use.

In general. They are more focused on maximizing income than actually helping people fix their cars.

I have the Mercedes Source kit. The crimp tool is a Vise-Grip plier that has the jaw ground out. It is basically a radius or 1/4 circle ground into the jaw. I haven't used mine yet. I didn't think the instructions were anything special.

Remember to re install the axels on opposite sides. Should then get another 200k or more. New wear surfaces are engaged.

If they haven't leaked out yet, I'd just replace only the boots.

There's a link around here somewhere to a youtube video showing how to pull new boots over the old cans using an oiled up long black funnel. Real slick maneuver.

M*source is very helpful, but a bit expensive. They will go that extra mile to help, but they expect to get paid. Nothing wrong with that.

I crawled back under the car to spray the old boots with 303 protectant that I got today just for kicks and while rotating the axle a drip of lube squirted out of the rightside outer boot. Bummer but I believe it is the first sign of boot failure and and just now happened since right up to this minute all the boots were dry and 3 still are.
Anyway I am going to replace them.

After looking at the factory install link my question is,
Should that same procedure be followed by us home mechs,
particularly the bit about stop buffers?
It seems to be getting more complicated or is that just me?

There is another part to the trick; one member said he split a boot trying this and found out that you had to use the same boot the video guy used. Meaning it may not work with other types of boots.
frutcakesa-who started the thread ought to contact ************** and ask them if their kit tells you how to stretch to boots over the axle and also if their kit needs a special tool to crimp the boot clamps
