SLS Lubricant Change
Saw a couple threads about the need to change SLS fluid periodically.
I'm going to do a brake flush, change that PS pump filter and fluid, perhaps I should change that as well. Any "gotcha's"? I have a nice vacuum pump that I have adapted to do all sorts of duties. It powerflushed brake fluid from my Jag. Then it helped me drain the last bit of diesel when I checked the strainer. Then it vacced out my A/C for 3hrs before the charge. It sucked out my P/S fluid. Can/Should/How do you renew the SLS fluid?

You can flush the fluid at the bleeder on the SLS valve or do it the easier way.
Disconnect the return line at the reservoir and catch the fluid as it returns. This way you are standing and you're right there to keep the reservoir full. Just flush until the fluid comes out clean or you've cycled 2-3 liters through. If the system is completely dry it takes 3.5 liters. You can also stop part way through and bounce the rear bumper a few times to make sure you're flushing out the actuators too.

I would use your cool tool and suck the resivoir clean rinse it out well, and then fill the resivoir, put the return line in a 5 gallon bucket, and crank up the car... clean returning fluid, your almost done! have somebody jump on the bumper ! done.

Thanks. What kind of fluid
Thanks for the advice. That's what I'll do. Suck it out. Fill. Flush. Done.
What kind of fluid are most using? My book just says hydraulic oil. Gives the amount 3.7 qt but not a brand or weight. Is this a dealer only fluid or is there good stuff of the shelf? Synthetic perhaps?

Use FEBI hydraulic fluid. I personally wouldn't use anything else.
