240d Axle shafts?

Hey everyone, I have been lurking around this forum for quite a while now. Finally decided to register. I used alot of information to fix my girlfreinds evil servo, amp, cruise control, and power locks. (all of course related). I also used a beutifully written how-to axle shaft replacement.

When i replced my axle shafts, i bought new ones from the parts store, ($78 ea.) no core. Ive read that there are places that will rebuild them, and i was wondering what to do with my old ones. I dont need them as my new ones have a lifetime warranty.

Basically does anyone have a use for these, as i would hate to turn them in for scrap metal.

Thanks in advance.

It is possible that CVJ of Denver might be interested in them. You could contact them at:

Steve Skirrow
CVJ Axles, Inc.
4101 Brighton Blvd.
Denver, CO 80216
800-292-2953
303-297-2448
303-297-0650 Fax
Information@cvjreman.com

Whether they would pay you anything is another question. Perhaps they would be willing to pay the shipping if the axles turned out to be good enough to rebuild (they have strict tolerances). Data: (a) CVJ's core charge is $50 per axle. (2) UPS charged me $22.18 to ship two axles from CA to CO.

Let us know what comes out of this.

Jeremy

What country where the axles made in and what parts place did you get them from?

Well, the shafts were bought from Advance Auto Parts, Part# ncv48998
They were $79.88 each with no core charge, not sure where they were made, but they are lifetime warranty. Heres some pictuers of the new box and the old shafts. Looked like they just needed boots.

I will give CVJ a call and see what we can work out.
