1983 300td amg?

Found an ad for a 1983 300TD Euro, instead of the Diesel badge in the back it says AMG and it has a real nice AMG steering wheel also the body trim looks different compared to my 85 wagon, it’s a real nice wagon the owner told me he bought it new in Germany and imported it when he came back and that is a original AMG series? I never knew about 80’s diesel AMG wagons until I saw this one.
If someone knows something about this AMG wagons I will appreciate the input.

I would go check it out. Ask him for some AMG documentation, take pics. You never know, it could be a special one-off or something. Back then, AMG mods could be for just the body and not the engine, or vice versa. Since they didn't mod diesel engines, it could be plausible that they modded just the body alone.

Thanks guys, am going to check it out this coming Monday and I will take some pictures, looks like is only the outside but the owner says is a lot heavier than the regular 300 TD so I really want to see it, anyway been a 300 TD I am going to buy it (if no major repairs are required), I will be posting pictures early next week.

Someone could have bolted some real AMG parts to it, but AFAIK AMG never did a diesel. If its a real AMG it should be a 280TE or something like that.

What makes that first one an AMG besides the period INcorrect badge?

The 2nd one is not a 300td. Thats a 280te.

AMG didn't make a diesel motor until the 90s, but they might have put stuff on a diesel car. You gotta remember there was only 1 AMG and a large number of authorized installers. I don't think they cared what stuff went on as long as they got some monies.

Any you young puppies

remember the AMG HAMMER? I recall reading an article many years
ago about a gasser station wagon that was awesome. I've always
loved wagons since I was a kid. I've had one for most of my life.
The HAMMER fed my desire for a station wagon like that.

Chad and Dee8go might just have the flashiest wagons on here. Mine is still a nice mix of beige and rust on ronals
